The basis of this book has foundations in true individualistic commerce: Love your neighbor AS yourself, not FOR (I win, you lose) nor INSTEAD OF (I lose, you win) yourself. When our government became larger in the mid 1800s, as did our military, you find that resources were more likely determined when "raiding replaced trading after the Civil War," including dealing with Indian lands. Rather than negotiate like businessmen, force was needed to take from the Indians. This grassroots commerce, transactions at the local level, is where all laws are written and any top/down function of Federal or State driven answers or solutions actually hinder good use of resources by the locals. Excellent book to understand how the west was really won.

Explains how the Wild West managed to have way more law and order than Americans tend to think. It covers how interference by Washington, which was clueless about conditions in the West, ended logical rules that were working. Arizonans, and their environment, are still paying the price for water rights legislated by a wet Washington over the arid West. For all those with an open mind who want to know what would happen if Washington left the states alone to govern themselves.

This book treats about old subjetcs that are still relevant today and in every one of them it’s possible to see that the establish and enforcement of property rights is necessary to solve conflicts for scarce resources. It’s also clear how free associations and inciatives can do this work far better (low cost and more fairness) than any centralized authority. A fascinating book that debunks many claims and myths commonly propagated via the government agency controlled educational system.

What a great lesson on the history of the West. I highly recommend it.I especially enjoyed learning about the Indian Wars.

I don't have a lot of time to really give this review its due. However, I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to deepen their understanding of how property rights have affecteed and continue to affect our society. Hill is as gifted of a teacher as he is an economist and he and TA complement each other immensely.

The book reads quickly, almost like a novel. Anderson and Hill debunk the claims that the Old West was governed by anarchy and violence with numerous examples of how institutional arrangements provided ordered and security. It provides interesting insights on property rights development from de facto rights to de jure rights. I would recommend for those interested in economic history and the Old West.

All was ok, quick and i thing that every thing was ok. Everyone could buy something and it will be ok.

I am voluntarily leaving an honest review of this book because I love to read and endorse an author's writing I enjoy without revealing to much of the story to not to ruin it for others.

This is the seventh book in this series and as always we watch as Tor gets himself into more trouble, but always finding a way out. I love the action and suspense that surrounds Tor as he is working towards the man that he is destined to be. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book

This episode is wonderful, it is a bit slower than the previous, but that is a good thing. It lets the reader to take a deep breath before plunging into the next in the series. Which, from the cliff hanger, it is going to be a roller coaster ride.

I read a lot. About 60 or more books per year. This is one of the best. Dragon Chameleon and Dragon Riders are so engrossing I just can't stop reading until I'm done. If you don't read these books you'll feel the love of a dragon. Love love love it.

The series keeps ramping up and the action is intense. Tor just can't seem to avoid trouble. After the cliffhanger ending, I'm anxious to find out what happens next!

I really enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite of his. It’s worth five stars but I would recommend a couple of his others before this one. Very interesting twist on things and just thinking about how life could be and what actually defines success. You’ll enjoy not only the story but everything else he talks about. I really enjoy this author.

This is the 4th book of the Sports for the Soul Series. I wasn't sure Darrin Donnelley could top Relentess Optimism but he certainly did with LIFE TO THE FULLEST. All of his books have helped me so much at a time I really needed the inspiration. His story telling through sports keeps the pages turning and does not let you put the book down. If you have started the series with THINK LIKE A WARRIOR you MUST read all of the series books. These books really can change your life.

Great read, fantastic message, outstanding series of books. Can't wait for the next one to be released!!!!!! You don't have to be a sports fan to appreciate these books.

Don Hanlon Johnson is a professor of Somatics at the California Institute of Integral Studies; he founded the degree program there in 1983, the first of its kind. He is the author of Bone, Breath, and Gesture, Groundworks: Narratives of Embodiment, and The Body in Psychotherapy, among other books. He is a contributing editor of the professional journal Somatics and the director of the Somatics Research Center at CIIS, where there are several studies in process about the relevance of Somatic methods to major issues facing our society, including programs in rehabilitation and recovery, PTSD, and the education of parents for bonding with their children. Great Pictures. Thanks!

I was disappointed in this book of postcards. While it does, in fact, feature cows, the photographer does not seem to love, appreciate or enjoy his subjects. They look boringly bovine, not divine. You can tell when a photographer truly loves his subject. That affectionate touch is missing here and it hurts.

I completely disagree with the other reviewer who said that these cards are boringly bovine. First of all, they're cows, they are by definition bovine. Second, many of these cards feature lovely pictures of cows: cows looking curious, cows licking their calves, cows chewing. There's not much else you can get cows to do; they're cows. Also, many of the pictures feature beautiful backdrops of vibrant New England fall foliage, which really complements the Guernsey and brown cows, especially. My only complaint is that there aren't more calves, because who doesn't love a tiny, new ruminant?The postcards themselves are kind of thin, but perfectly fine for mailing. They have nice descriptions of the cows on the back, and a good amount of room for writing. These cards are perforated and tear out of the spine, but they're not very hard to remove.

Wow, just not that great a book. I have been cooking Thai food for years and even trained under two Thai chefs while I was working my way up in the industry. This book is some weird collection of very strange Thai-ish recipes. I have tried multiple recipes out of this book and they all seem very confused. I feel like this author was just trying to write a book of his adaptations of Thai food. The recipe "Drunken Spaghetti", is nothing more than Italian Spaghetti with some slight Thai influence, very weird. Many better books out there, try others.

If you are one who enjoys experiencing the flavours of the world and are not intimidated by exotic ingredients then Thai cuisine is one you should consider. Most of the ingredients needed for Thai cooking may be found in your kitchen, your local supermarket, or Asian Market. "True Thai: The Modern Art of Thai Cooking" is an awesome collection of recipes that are not only simplistic and flavorful, but does a great job of combining Thai cuisine with Thai culture. As a professional chef, I especially appreciate the menu planning guide at the end of the book. I have been exposed to many, many cuisines of the world, but I have to confess that Thai is near the top of my list. Probably my most favorite dish is the Chicken-Coconut Soup with Ginger and Lemon Grass (tom kha kai). I'm from the South and I have always enjoyed soup with crusty bread and butter but I have to say this soup stands by itself. No bread, or anything else for that matter, is needed with this soup. And the flavor---wow---it is unbelievably good. Victor Sodsook, also a professional chef, has gone to great lengths to make this book a collection of recipes that are easy to read and follow and presents the reader with information about the recipe: what region it's from, facts about the ingredients, and techniques for preparation. Ingredient substitutions are also provided to create different versions of the same recipes. This book has a variety of recipes covering the usual contents: Soups, Rice and Noodles, Fish and Seafood, Salads etc. But this book goes farther including contents such as Bangkok Street Cooking, Royal Thai Cuisine, and Fruit and Vegetable Carvings. It even has a section of Mail-Order Sources for Thai Ingredients. It's a nice amalgam of information bound up in one book. It is the Thai that binds.

BRAND NEW---basically---just paid shipping--I bought this book new in 1995ish and used it for decades---I left it in Thailand at a hotel in January and was so bummed ---When I got back to the USA I looked it up on amazon and found it in the used books area---what a find!!!

True Thai is an excellent cookbook,it explains ingredients fully and is easy to understand.The recipes are easy to prepare and delicious.In the back of the cookbook there are listings for ingredients.Most ingriedients can be found in Asian markets or larger supermarkets and what cant be found can be ordered on line. Before purchasing I read the reviews as I always try to do. And after I purchase I usually try to write an honest review. This cookbook I am pleased to say is just what most of the reviews said it was and I am more than pleased. I am sure that I will be using this cookbook often and it will not get dusty sitting on a shelf!

Love this book

I borrowed this book from the library and loved it. I have made Thai dishes that taste like they come from a restaurant. You will need to buy a lot of special ingredients(different types of soy sauce, curry paste(easier to buy than make), mortar and pestle. I don't have a Thai supermaket around me but everything is available online. I bought this book as I cannot imagine not being able to make this stuff all the time.

I am a real fan of Thai food and like to cook everything from scratch. I have a smaller and more simple Thai cookbook that's OK but wanted something more comprehensive and this one is great. Lots of great recipes in it.

The company sent it in perfect shape, not a blemish on this book inside or out.Far exceded my expectations as to the quality shape this book was in.Although I neglected that it was missing the dust cover. I should have bought one with a dust cover because I like pictures.Victor Sodsook is one of the true chefs of Thai cooking.I highly recommend any cookbook he writes.

Received promptly, in mail without damage. Great value for the price. This is a wonderful cookbook and I'm glad to have found it on-line for such a good value.

He knows all the techniques and skills of the broadcasting business, overcoming the great flaw in radio performance that you are totally cut off from your audience and know not whether the people appreciate what you are saying, have turned the dial or gone to sleep.In that respect radio is the most difficult medium for a performer, even more than motion pictures where everything is planned to the last second and retakes are a regular part of the process. In radio it is one shot and you have to have your act together pretty well to pull it off. Barry Farber shows you a path to that goal.

This book is more for business men making conversation than shy people. Farber helps to make your statements more interesting.

As the title states, this is a book about making people talk. Barry Farber is a well known radio host who has interviewed some of the most important people in America and this book is his "self-help" book on how to make people talk. Like many other conversation books, this one is about (mostly) speaking to people you do not know very well. Farber takes a different approach to this and also talks about why you want to cultivate both friendships as well as casual relationships with many people. It is about what they can do for you. Farber explains that this is not a cold, callous way to look at it, because if you cultivate a relationship by talking, people will want to help you out if they are able (they may be able to help you get a job, give you advise, help with a promotion, get choice basketball tickets, etc). This is not a dry explanation on how to better make people talk, but an engaging book. Farber does not suggest that this will be easy, but only that it is worthwhile to be able to make people talk.

I bought this book in the early 90s, and I remember loving it. Then I reread it a few years ago and realized just how much I had learned from it. You should read it too.

Why is the book so expensive? I want to read it but the price is ridiculous.

Not only am I experiencing an improvement in the intimate areas of my life, I also am having a much easier time sending energy to a particular spot in my body and sensing energy in others. This is very important to me, as I am currently working toward Reiki II training.The most wonderful thing of all: this book aims to empower people to enrich the private, sensual moments in their lives, but the benefits of what this author illustrates extend far beyond intimate encounters and into the realm of everyday life. Still working my way through the book but so far it's been interesting and helpful. I'm eager to finish it.

struggled with reports from Access to Excel when we should have been using Excel to get data from the queries running the Access reports.

Been a DBA using DB2 and Oracle now I need to use Access yuch. Well this book has great examples well written. A fast read and good reference. I might like Access.

Very helpful for making the transition between excel and access.

I was one of the first to order this book and when I received my copy I was disappointed. Most of the index to this book was missing, it only had two pages. It covered the letter "A" and only a portion of "B". I returned the book and requested a new one. I received the second book and it had the same exact problem, a LARGE portion of the Index was missing. The customer service rep said that they would check all locations for this quality error and stop the book from being ordered until they resolved the issue. This happened on Monday, April 12, 2010 and as of yet they still have not pulled the product from being ordered and have not called me back saying that it has been resolved, which they said that they were going to do. After two books I still do not have a complete book!! So for those of you that just ordered this book, check the Index. Now Amazon has YOUR MONEY!

Skimmed through it in one night. Will be studying this in more detail for my project. Getting it from excel point of view is great, since I know excel. Very useful...highly recommended. Got the ebook version to bypass any potential issues with the missing index, but I'm guessing that should be fixed by now.If I hunger for hardcopy, I'll get the book later. I personally like option to have both hardcopy and electronic versions.

For the past year, I have been designing reports with Access for an Oracle based exposure assessment software package. I have incorporated many of the tricks presented in this book into my work. Hands down the most useful Access book I have - even with the annoying issue with nearly all of the index missing.

So helpful in marrying Excel and Access. Love the visuals and examples. Don't hesitate to pierce the mystery of Access when you're a big Excel user. You'll experience the power of Access as a backend engine, at least, and increase controls when they're absent from Excel.
