Tactics are proven as we did not have obesity epidemic 30 years back in India especially where vegetarian diet was main staple and alcohol was legally prohibited like the state of Gujarat.
My weight dropped (all by itself) more than fifty pounds in two years... and I did not count calories or worry about quantities. I ate until I was full... a very good feeling.
